Bushfire Planning & Design (BPAD) Consultant Newcastle

Buildcert Planning is a development planning and consultancy company, with a head office located in Newcastle. We have the capacity to service the east coast of NSW, by utilising the latest technology and innovative tools, to deliver professional and efficient outcomes to clients. Our experienced team assist our clients to achieve positive development outcomes, for both small-scale projects, through to large-scale development.

Due to continued growth and in response to demand we are looking to expand our team and services by introducing an experienced Bushfire Planning and Design (BPAD) Consultant. Reporting to the Planning Manager, the BPAD Consultant will demonstrate a working knowledge of the NSW Planning for Bushfire Protection 2006, AS 3959-2009 and the EP&A Act in order to provide a professional service to both internal and external clients.

About the Role:

  • Demonstrate experience with NSW Planning for Bushfire Protection 2006 (or other state equivalents), AS 3959-2009 and related legislation
  • Prepare and produce high quality Bushfire Assessment, BAL Certificates and associated documentation
  • Work on a diverse range of bushfire projects, with key responsibilities including field assessment, design solutions and data analysis
  • Prepare consultancy reports that are within area of expertise/qualification within set time frames
  • Assist in attracting new clientele to Buildcert Planning
  • Ensure project and client information is accurately entered into the Business Operating System (BOS)
  • Liaise with internal and external stake holders in a manner that best represents Buildcert Planning

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years’ BPAD experience
  • University qualification in Bushfire Protection or another recognised bushfire qualification
  • Fire Protection Association of Australia (FPAA), BPAD certification
  • Experience with NSW Planning for Bushfire Protection 2006 (or other state equivalents), AS 3959-2009 and related legislation
  • Experience in bushfire protection, landscape scale bushfire assessments, planning or management
  • Extensive knowledge of local council bushfire mapping
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to write high quality and concise reports and submissions
  • Advanced level of IT proficiency e.g. Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional communication skills across all platforms
  • The ability to work proactively and effectively in an autonomous environment
  • High level of negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Hold a C class driver licence
